As a Your Money Your Goals designee, Public Health Management Corporation is pleased to offer its employees a training on providing financial literacy to individuals with disabilities.
On May 4th a trainer from the CFPB will join us via webinar to provide information on addressing the financial challenges specific to justice involved individuals. Attendees will be provided with a hard copy manual, which the trainer will walk through. At the end of the training attendees will be able to do the following for participants who have disabilities:
- set up an Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Account and build savings;
- pay for assistive technology to achieve independence;
- understand how income from work impacts Social Security Income (SSI); and
- identify financial abuse and exploitation and how to get assistance
Your Money, Your Goals is a set of financial empowerment materials for organizations that help people meet their financial goals by increasing their knowledge, skills, and resources. It was developed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Each year the CFPB selects around a dozen organizations through a competitive process to receive technical assistance to train their staff on how to use these tools. PHMC was selected in 2019 and provided a training on the basics of Your Money, Your Goals toolkit in May 2019. Support continues from CFPB in the form of trainings to the financial needs of specific populations.
